{MeSSy HaiR MonDay} "Knot your typical crown"

Good Halloween Morning!  I am sure that all of your little spooks are EXCITED for the big day today.  Even some of us GROWN up spooks.  I've got one more brilliant knot hair to demonstrate after this one and then we will move on!  It has been fun, for sure!  Today, is the same knot that we have been doing but it wraps around the head similar to a crown. Perfect for everyday or even more formal occasions.

{Inspirational Sundays} Free Inspirational Quote

This post has a lot of meaning behind it.  My FAMILY just got back from a ten day visit to the #1 respiratory hospital in the country.  We were seeking medical care for my oldest son.  He was involved in a near drowning accident in July 2010 and suffered severe lung damage from the ventilator and infections that occurred in the ICU.  He is here with us and is a miracle.  When you go through trials in your life, you have to rely on Faith, Patience, Prayer, Support and the Comforting voice telling you it is going to be OK.  ....And you know what WE ARE OK!  This quote I found on Facebook!  It touched me.  This INSPIRATIONAL Sunday is DEDICATED to each one of you, because we all have difficult times in our lives, we can SMILE and know that he has SOMETHING better for us!
XOXO

{Grand Tutorial Locker System}

  If you didn't catch my feature post at Tatertots and Jello, let's revisit it! If you did, this project has an additional information in it.  It is a Grand Tuesday morning, isn't it?  I am pleased to meet you, I am Stacie from The Three Sweet Peas, and am VERY excited to be sharing with you a grand tutorial.  Let's be frank, Tatertots and Jello is a grand sort of blog and I felt it only appropriate for a VERY Grand Project.
This has to rate as one of my favorite projects that the hubby has accomplished over our years of marriage.  An ENTRY LOCKER storage system.  GRAND, RIGHT?!  I mean, what is a mom to do when you have no place to store backpacks, coats, shoes, sports stuff..  Well, if you are like me, I would move them from one place to another to another.  I eventually found a cool antique piece, that made the space work, but ultimately it was still not my idea of a perfect entry way.  I wanted a furniture quality locker piece.  One day, while being "Pinspired," I FOUND a perfect locker system, that would work in my home, and the base unit was from IKEA, of all places.  And... so it went, I put my husband to work!

    Hemnes Unit Dimensions:
    Width: 58 5/8 "Depth: 18 1/2 "Height: 22 1/2 "
The actual dimensions of our unit is as follows, it will need to be adjusted to fit into your home:  The height of the actual unit is 92" measured from the floor to the top of the crown molding, from the floor to the first shelf is 66.5", from the floor to the second shelf is 78.5" and the total width of the unit is 57".
The Lumber List that we used is below with the actual UPC codes and are from the Home Depot and Lowes.  The list does not include:  Liquid Nails, screws, caulking, paint, and any other miscellaneous tools needed to build.
First things first!  We set out to calculate and figure out what would fit into our entry way space.  We found that the three drawer TV unit, Hemnes, from Ikea, fit our space perfectly.  We purchased the base unit, there was no turning back!  I was THRILLED!  My husband was NOT!

While my husband was busy assembling the Hemnes
 piece, I took the top board of the unit and sanded the wood piece down to the bare wood.  It was stained with three coats of Minwax stain; walnut color, two coats of Ralph Lauren black glaze, & two coats of polyurethane.  This will need to be done before you can attach it to the furniture piece.
 After the unit is assembled you will place the unit where it will sit permanently in your home.  It will need to be attached to the wall either by screws or nails.  Locate the studs and attach through the back.
Attach a molding of your choice to the bottom of the unit.  We used a 5 7/8'.  This will be a personal preference but it will need to cover the entire bottom.  The molding corners will be cut at a 45 degree angle, and mitered together.  Attach to the unit.
 Next we used 4 8' particle boards (exact measurement on collage).  You will attach the boards to the wall & bench with liquid nails.  We placed them on the bench like so.
After the boards have completely dried you will place the smaller support boards on each side of the 8' boards for support.  There should be five total.  {You will not place the support board on the outside of the unit.}
The shelves width and height come next.  Our unit is pretty tall because we have EXTREMELY high ceilings.  Adjust the shelf height to fit your home.
Shelf support edge that is showing is cut at 45 degree angle
Finished Shelf's
Add crown molding and cut with a compound miter saw at 33.9 bevel and 31.6 miter for an outside, 90 degree cut.
Finished Molding
 You will add finish molding to the fronts, sides, and top of the unit.  After all of the moulding is in place get out your caulking gun and start filling in the holes.  This is a very long process but necessary for the finished look.
The cabinet was painted Martha Stewart Heavy Cream.  The accessories are from Hobby Lobby.

And the finished product:

{MeSSy HaiR MonDay}

Messy Hair Monday.  Isn't it Fabulicious?  I really love doing my peanut's hair and sharing all of the hairstyles that I have experimented with!  Today, I am excited to CONTINUE with our KNOT series.  See, I really wasn't kidding when I said the knot is "Knot" so basic.
We will be doing a hair style that crosses like a headband but uses all of the hair from ear to ear.  Be patient as you are doing this one because parting the hair from front to back requires a little bit more patience, with combing and clipping.  Good Luck!

{Inspirational Sundays} Free Relief Society Subway Art Printable

I am reposting this because of the many requests for JPEG files.  They are all saved below in 5x7 image sizes that can be printed at any photo processing.  This is the original post!  Happy Day!

Good Beautiful Sunday Morning!  Today is a beautiful day and can't wait to share my Sunday Inspiration.  My Friend presented a fabulous idea for the 2012 Relief Society Birthdays in our ward and I LOVED the idea of creating a Subway art piece.  ...And here is the Relief Society Declaration in Subway Art.

  Print it out as a 5x7 or if you want larger an 8x10 with a border.  Laminate it and attach a magnet, you have a VERY inexpensive but AMAZINGLY AWESOME gift for every sister's birthday in your ward.  How about something to fill that frame that has just been sitting around?  ...And the best part you can choose which color you want!  Hope you enjoy!
